Quality vs Quantity.

When will the school ever learn that the quality of the teachers are more important than the quantity of them?
So many teachers have left us this year, GOOD teachers.
Teachers who have helped me and motivated me to do well for my year-end examinations.
Teachers who were willing to answer my never-ending questions.
Teachers who would print out their own notes for us, instead of relying on the textbooks.
Teachers who knew how to grab our attention, especially those who fall asleep in class.
Teachers who care for us so much, even our personal lives.
Teachers who would share their experiences with us, interesting ones, not boring ones.
Teachers who knew you were facing stress/family problems just by looking at you for one second.
Teachers who always have a smile plastered on their faces from the start til the end of the day, even though we know deep down inside, they're tired.
These teachers have left a huge footprint in my life, and i will never forget them.
I would rather have a teacher who calls us to stay back after school than have a teacher who talks nonsense in class. Like literally, nonsense that's not even related to our syllabus.
Sigh.
On a side note, Happy Chinese New Year to all those who celebrate CNY! :-)
I'm currently in Malaysia now, but i'll be going back on Tuesday. The school won't approve my request for a one day leave on Wednesday.... bummer.

A new start.

School started two weeks ago and i barely survived the first week, every single teacher stepped into the classroom on the first day and reminded us about O levels. I have had several dreams for the past few nights which had the words 'O levels' in it.Speaking of O levels, the results of the batch last year had a great improvement compared to their previous batch. Teachers are expecting an even greater improvement from us. Most of my teachers are expecting me, the top student of last year, to score less than 10 points for my L1R5 aggregate. This adds on to the immense pressure I'm already facing.
Every day in school, I walk around feeling like I have too many things to do. The amount of homework I get is never-ending, and I haven't started talking about my tuition homework. All of us have to attend remedials every day, school starts at 7.30am and ends at 4pm, how on earth will I manage my time?
The worst thing is, my weekends are packed with school, tuition, and homework. Yes, I have to attend Physics remedial every
Saturday morning. Then I rush back home and off to my Chinese tuition. My O level Chinese paper is less than 6 months and I barely have time to revise Chinese every single day. My goal Is to score an A1 for it, so that I can forget about Chinese and focus on my other subjects til the end of this year.
Because of this, I have made several sacrifices to manage my time. For a start, I've quit tumblr. I stopped logging in for 14 days ever since school started, of course I do miss reblogging edits and nice photos but what choice do I have? It's O levels we're talking about here!
Next, I have left the Kpop fandom. No tumblr = no updates on Kpop. Occasionally I do read some Kpop news online but I'm too lazy to care lol. I already regretted wasting so much money on junk like albums, photo books, posters, etc. I've already sold my SNSD album, and if you would like to buy some albums, do contact me! I'm sure we can work something out haha. :-)
Some changes have been made in the school as well. For instance, my Amath teacher is now a hilarious and sarcastic teacher. Even though most of my classmates dislike his way of teaching, I think he's a great teacher because he believes in us. He has a champion mindset, just like the rest of my subject teachers. In fact, they can actually turn a pessimistic student into an optimistic student! I really appreciate their faith in us and I certainly do not wish to let them down.
Of course, I do miss some of my teachers who left Northbrooks. Namely, Ms Faith Ong! She was the best teacher who took care of us and brought us up to Sec 3, I was on cloud nine when I saw her today at the bus stop on my way home! Ahhh I miss her smile so much, she'll always ask me to smile everyday cause I'm not a very happy person when I'm in school lol. Oh, and our beloved principal, Mrs. Oh left us as well, her goal to improve on our English came true! Most of the students last year scored distinctions for their O level English! She has made such a huge difference in not just the results, but the students as well! I really do miss her dramatic speeches every time she speaks on stage lol. School will never be the same without her and Ms Ong. :-(
To sum up this wordy post, I hope I'm not too late to wish everyone a happy school year and a great 2012 ahead of you! Whether it's college, uni, or a new secondary school, always look on the bright side and all the best! :-)
